Loving: Fall Booties

Okay, okay...I admit it...I need to stop posting about fall fashion (see my last post) and enjoy the last month of summer!  But I just love fall fashion so much that I just can't help it.  The topic today is fall booties.  They look so chic paired with a dark skinny jean or if you're a bit daring try pairing your booties with a shift dress.  Also, I love that there are so many bootie styles!

Grunge Girl

The grungy look will be in this coming fall.  Think of it as a 90's revival...so pull out your plaid, your band shirts, and your doc martins. It's not the easiest look to pull off but if you're feeling like me and feel like incorporating a bit of this trend into your wardrobe check out these two looks below...

I like how this look is still a bit grungy while still remaining chic, definitely a look that I would love to pull off because it's pretty simple to replicate!  The tan leather jacket is the focal point of the outfit but it has been "grunged" up by some dark, dark eyeliner and a pair of black tights.

Another quick fix is just to tie a plaid shirt around your waste and viola, you've achieved the grunge girl look!

Favorite Music Apps

Today I am going to share my favorite music apps.  I'm a big fan of discovering new music and what a better time to do it than in the summer when you have some extra time or need some new music for summer beach parties?!  Best part is that both apps mentioned are free!

The first app/website that I love is Pandora.  Pandora is super popular so you probably already know about it.  If you don't, go check it out.  Plug in your favorite artist and Pandora will make you a playlist with similar sounding artists!

The second app/website is probably my absolute favorite app of the year (and I use many apps)!  It's called 8 tracks.  What I love is that you can search for music based on mood, genre, and occasion that you want to play it for.  For example, I'll pick House + Chill, if I want some good music for a chill get together with friends.  If I have a beach party, I'll pick Party + Electronic.  So simple and so great!  If you get sick of a certain playlist there are about 1 million other playlists that you can check out.

Summer Music

A good playlist is a quintessential part of every summer.  Below you'll find my playlist of all the songs I've been loving to listen to (I even work out to this playlist).  But summer is not over yet and neither is my summer playlist.  I'm always on the lookout for new music.  In my next post I'll be sharing how I discover new music via my favorite music apps!

  1. Burn - Ellie Goulding
  2. I Could Be The One - Avicci vs Nick Romero
  3. Follow You Down - Zedd ft. Bright Lights
  4. 10 Minutes (Play & Win Radio Edit) - Inna
  5. Crazy Kids - Ke$ha
  6. Bounce - Calvin Harris ft. Kelis
  7. Get Lucky - Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams
  8. Mirrors - Justin Timberlake
  9. Animals - Martin Garrix

Details of CHANEL Fall-Winter 2013/14 Haute Couture Collection

As you may know another week of Haute Couture show
has gone by.  I haven't really had much of a chance to study the collections as I usually like to do.  I love doing so because I like to predict what may be in trend in fast fashion chain stores in a few months, although most trends tend to come from ready to wear collections.  But I thought this video was an interesting way to see the magnificent art that Chanel has once again created.

Skincare Scoop: Mario Badescu

There's nothing that makes me as upset as when my skin breaks out.  I usually attest my blemishes to hormones or a bad diet so I've been on the hunt for a cure (giving up chocolate is not an option). I always recommend going to the dermatologist, but if you're in a pinch to solve your skincare woes there are some non-prescription solutions out there.  I've found that Mario Badescu has a great range of skincare products at a totally affordable price for high end skin care line. The brand has many products so there's surely something out there for your skin.  In order to ensure that I'm using the right products for my skin type, I do major research.  For the most un-biased research, I usually turn to makeupalley.com.  I purchased my products at Nordstrom because of their great return policy but many other retailers carry the line as well.

Since I suffer from cystic acne I like to use the Buffering Lotion ($18)

I also have a few blackheads (yuck) so I like to dust on some Silver Powder twice a week ($12)

And don't forget, the most important thing for healthy skin...a healthy diet and lots and lots of water!

Loving: Peach Ice Tea

The holiday weekend has just flown by and it's time to get back into the swing of things.  I find it quite difficult to wake up after a long weekend of fun and festivities so I like to drink just a bit of caffeine to get me going.  I've been turning to peach ice tea.  My favorite place to get this tea is Coffe Bean and Tea Leaf.  If you're a tea aficionado or a peach lover, the Orchard Peach ice tea will surely quench your thirst and keep you cool amid summer's heat waves.

Trend Alert: Flower Crowns

Calling all boho girls...how do you feel about the flower crown trend?  You'll be seeing them pop up everywhere if you haven't already.  The flower crown trend screams Lana Del Rey.  Wavy hair and flower crowns go hand in hand, as modeled by Lana in the below picture. Check out these easy steps to achieve perfect, heatless waves...
  1. Take a shower to dampen your entire head
  2. Use a wide toothed comb to brush through your towel dried hair
  3. Begin braiding your hair, a loose French braid is optimal but any braid should work
  4. Tie the end of your hair loosely with a small hair elastic
  5. In the morning remove the elastic and run your fingers (not a brush) through your hair
  6. Add a shine or finishing spray, I like Rene Furterer's glossing spray
  7.  Enjoy your perfect waves!
