A New Basic

I know it's hard to think about Spring with Christmas just one day away.  Here's a big trend for spring: Black & White.  It may sound boring but there's a new twist on this classic color combination.  Spring 2013 it's all about black and white patterns.  Hop on trend with some of these looks:

Holiday Time

I absolutely adore holiday time! What's not to love about bright sparkly lights, holiday cheer, and of course amazing holiday food.  I'm so happy to be spending the holidays with my family and doing a bit of traveling!  What are you all doing for the holidays?

The clock is ticking, you only have a few more days to purchase holiday gifts!  What are you going to get?  Since you don't know yet, you probably still have no clue.... Color of the Year

The color of 2013 has just been announced...Emerald!  This can only mean one thing - Emerald is going to be so in this coming year!  I don't think I'll be a big one for emerald clothing since it isn't really my color but I think I could accessorize with some emerald colored accessories like a scarf, necklace, purse or even flats would be totally cute.  What emerald items will you be adding to your wardrobe?

Drool...

All I want for the holidays is the Burberry 'Bridle Studs' leather tote.  It's definitely a luxury item, that I have no intentions of receiving, or even asking for, but I do love looking at this bag.  Can we just take a minute to admire Burberry's fierce design?  The minute I saw this purse I fell in love with it's shape and of course the studded detail.  You all know how much I like gold detailing with black leather.  In all I love this bag because it appears to be super roomy, very chic, and it doesn't prominently feature a label name.

The Search is Over!

The mad search for black, leather riding boots is over!  I've feel like Cinderella, I've finally found the perfect shoe! The pair that I ended up getting is the Vinca Camuto Kabo Riding Boot.  I was nervous ordering a pair of boots online after trying on so many pairs in store that didn't work.  I did massive research to make sure that this boot would fit properly.   If you're shopping for a pair of shoes I recommend you try to find a video about the shoes.  Yes, a video.  It is nice to see footwear being modled so I watched this video as well as one here, and here.    

Overall I love the Kabo Riding boot.  I love the small heel and the mixture of pebbled leather with smooth leather.  The gold equestrian inspired details are also really cute.  I can't wait to wear my boots and dress them up or down.  If you're interested in the boot it comes in three different colors, molten (dark brown), rich cocoa (cognac), and black.  I purchased my boots from Nordstrom (where I found them for a lower price than other sites).

The Hunt: Riding Boots

From time to time I find myself on a mad hunt for a certain item.  This winter I'm on a mad hunt for the perfect, black riding boot.  I've found so many obstacles when searching for the right boot.  I've found the right pair but it doesn't come in my size, it's man-made material (I'm looking for leather boots), it doesn't come in the right color, biker style, or the shoes make my foot look humongous.  Nonetheless, I am confident that I will find the right boot.   On my checklist for the boots: real leather, black, and equestrian chic.  The search continues...

Recent Purchase: Leopard Zara Knitwear

I was brave and ventured to the mall this past Saturday.  The crowds weren't too bad but the lines at checkout were very long.  All the stores were stocked with fantastic items for the fall and winter seasons.  Needless to say, I found some great items.  One of my favorite items that I picked up was a leopard sweater from the Zara Knitwear collection.  I wore it yesterday with basics; a black silky tank, a black scarf, dark jeans, and black flats.  I let the sweater do the talking!  Did you have any holiday shopping finds?

Holiday Dress

It's that time of year again when you'll probably be attending several fun, festive holiday parties.  What to wear, what to wear?  There are so many gerat options out in stores now, the dress below are from Piperlime or Bloomingdales.  You can be ultra festive and wear a ravishing red dress, you can be a showstopper in a sequin dress, or play it classic in a LBD.  Be ready for your holiday parties with these great choices...

Tight Tights

Okay, the temperature has officially dropped.  It's officially boot season, and I love boots!  You can dress boots up or down and you can even throw on a cute pair of tights.  I've seen all different tight patterns this season.  My favorites include leopard, star, and heart prints.   I've found stores like Nordstrom and Urban Outfitters offer an array of fun tights.  The best part is that you can find cute tights for around $14.  Look how fun the tights are below!

Neon Winter

Neon was a massive trend this past spring and summer.  Ever wonder what to do with those bright hues now that the weather is a little cooler?  Use them to brighten up winter looks and illuminate dark days.  When mixed with chunky knits, black, and grey neons can easily transfer into your winter wardrobe.  

Hair Trend: Fishtail Braiding

I've been noticing fishtail braids everywhere these days!  It's a great, effortless hairstyle that goes with just about anything.  Many celebrities have been sporting the fishtail braid with a more formal dress to dress it down.  Do you prefer a normal braid or a fishtail braid? Double The Fun

Cuff bracelets are a great way to accessorize any outfit.  This season's take on the cuff bracelet is the double cuff bracelet.  Slap one on each wrist and you're good to go.  Just make sure the cuffs have an interesting design or pattern so you don't go around looking like Wonder Woman.

Sweater Time

As the air becomes crisp and the leaves fall, I know it's time to pull out my sweaters.  I've seen some very cute sweaters from Burberry but they're a bit expensive...

I've found similar styles at Forever21 for a fraction of the cost!  The first sweater below continues with the fox trend and the second has the lace overlay detail.

Topshop @ Nordstrom

A few weeks ago I blogged about the arrival of Topshop to Nordstrom.  Have you checked it out yet?  I've seen a few cute items like the studded heart clutch and the hunter green peplum top, both pictured above. The styles in this collection are up to date, think peter pan collars, lace, and peplum mixed with a bit of edge and grunge.

The Purfect Fall Coat

I needed to find a great coat for this fall season.  I wanted something with a great shape, preferably in a neutral color, and something that would reflect my personal style.  I found this amazing coat from Free People. It's in a cheetah print (sooo in this season) which I consider a neutral.  I absolutely love the vintage swing shape.  They key to wearing animal prints, as evident in the photo below, is to keep the rest of the outfit as simple as possible. 

Music of the Month (September)

We're already a week into October...time flies!  I'm going to start blogging about my favorite music.  I tend to have one album on repeat per month.  Last month I was obsessed with Electra Heart by Marina and the Diamonds.  Her style is indie pop, electronic and is similar to one of my favorite artists, Ellie Goulding.

My favorite tracks include Teen Idol, Power & Control, Radioactive, How to be a Heartbreaker, and Primadonna.  Please go check out this album!

PFW: Chanel

Chanel shows are always extremely enjoyable, no doubt.  The top celebrities line the front row and there is no expense spared at these shows.  This season, the models strutted on solar panels past  towering turbines.

Reuters

We saw Chanel's classic tweed pairings and pearls in a new light.  I'm loving the hemlines and large pearl baubles.  Floral prints, floppy hats,  denim, and tie up platforms were also featured.

The piece de resistance was this hula hoop bag.  What do you think?  A bit avant garde, no?

Kitty Kitty

Cats are so in!  Yes, you heard that right.  Cat prints (my favorite) of various sorts are making their big debut this year.  The picture below is from the recent Kenzo SS13 Paris Fashion Week Show.

The pattern has previously been spotted on a dress by Victoria Beckham.

Totes Obsessed

Who doesn't love a large tote?  I believe that a large tote is an essential in every woman's wardrobe because you can throw everything you need in it.  You can use them for travel, a day out shopping, or even for school!

Milan Fashion Week: Versace

Hello Milan Fashion Week! Let's just say that I am super impressed with Versace's latest collection.  The collection featured everything from lace and leather to vivid colors and washed out patterns.   The pieces were still cohesive and true to their Versace name.  I love the long, floor-skimming dresses as well as the model's smokey eyes.  How fierce and sultry are these looks below?
