Not Your Mother's Pearls

Let me just tell you now -- pearls are going to be super in this season and maybe the next.  You'll be seeing pearls as embellishments on sweaters, popping up on handbags, and even on housewares. When choosing your pearl studded accessory consider choosing something that's doesn't scream matronly but rather gives young and fresh vibe.  Perhaps consider choosing a piece that even has a bit of an edgy or punk vibe too.  I think that Givenchy hits the nail on the head with many of their pearl accessories.  Plus, most of their accessories, while a little pricey, won't break the bank!  Check out  my favorite picks below....

The September Issue 2013

The September issue of Vogue is the most important yearly publication in fashion (and probably the heaviest).  Oscar Winner, Jennifer Lawrence, graces the cover.  I was finally able to pick up my copy and I am beyond excited about 902 pages of fashion!  I'm not ashamed to admit, however, that the ads are by far my favorite part of this issue.  I get so much of my inspiration from them!  Have you read this year's September Issue?

Style Steals: J. Crew Factory

If you love the preppy, fresh look of J. Crew Clothing but don't want to spend $80 on a shirt, then check out, J. Crew's online outlet store, J. Crew Factory.  Although J. Crew has some amazing clothes, it's not quite my style but I do find myself gravitating toward their jewelry!  I've seen many style bloggers sporting chunky J. Crew statement necklaces and bracelets and I just can't get enough of the look.  However, I don't like to spend too much on costume jewelry.  Luckily, J. Crew Factory offers similar styles to J. Crew, but at a factory store price.  Another plus is that they are always running promos so sometimes you can score 30% off you're entire order.  Below are some of my picks:

Clothing Colab: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

As you may well know if you've been reading my blog posts for a while, I'm obsessed with designer collaborations.  It's a great way to get a well designed piece at a fraction of the cost!  This September I'll be keeping my eyes pealed for designer Philip Lim's collaboration with Target which launches on the 15th.   This collaboration will feature both apparel for men and women with prices ranging from $19.99 to $299.99.

Next:  The next collaboration that I'm looking forward to is that of H & M and French designer, Isabel Marant.

Loving: Revlon's Bellini

The product I've been reaching for the most these past two month is no doubt Revlon's ColorBurst Lipgloss in Bellini.  This sheer but peach toned lip gloss is best used when layered over a creamy lip gloss such as Coral Reef (also by Revlon) to give more dimension to my lips.   I've also tried it layered on Lana, a nude lipstick by Benefit, and absolutely loved the results!  All in all, I don't really have any complaints about this product.  Ranging from about $5-10 at any drugstore, it's a total bargain especially since it outperforms even the high end lip glosses that I own.  Another plus is that it is not super sticky so no need to worry about your hair getting caught on your lips!

Music Blurb: Stars Dance

I am pretty impressed with Selena Gomez's new album, Stars Dance.   After hearing some rave reviews about the singer's fourth album (it's currently number one on the charts), I had to check it out.  I just love pop music!  While Selena's sound isn't necessarily a unique sound, it's definitely new for her and I'm enjoying seeing her mature a bit more with her music.
