Chanel Sneakers: Haute or Not?

This past runway season we saw both Chanel and Dior send sneakers down the runway.  Honestly, I was a bit shocked!  Karl Lagerfeld, creative director for Chanel, stated, "You can be in fashion without being a victim."  I like the concept but I'm not the biggest fan of the execution. What do you think about Chanel Sneakers? Haute or not?  I think I'll stick to my sleek Nike Frees for now!    

Denim Days

You can usually find me sporting a pair of jeans any day of the week.  They are just so versatile and comfortable.  However, I am extremely specific about what jeans I will and will not wear.  Since denim is something that I wear so often, I don't mind splurging on a pair because I know that I will wear them day in and day out.  After testing and trying many different brands over the years I have come to the conclusion that J Brand jeans are my favorite.   Each pair that I have owned feels like it has been tailored specifically for my body.  I haven't tried every style but I find that the skinny cut (my favorite) is the most flattering.  The 810 and 620 are my favorite styles because they are super skinny and mid-rise and come in a variety of shades, although I prefer darker shades to lighter shades.  I find that mid-rise keeps everything sucked in.  Lastly, I love that the back pocket is simple with no design.

But J Brand jeans can be a bit expensive, the price for these jeans starts at about $150.  This is why I usually only purchase them when I can find them on sale.  I've found that Saks and Shopbop often have J Brand jeans on sale.  Yay!    

Awards Seasons Fashion: Golden Globes 2014

The 2014 Golden Globes where this past Sunday, and as you may know my favorite part of awards season is the fashion.  I really didn't fall head over heals for any of the dresses at this years Golden Globes but I do really like two that I've shared below...

Although a bit risqué, I loved Maria Menonous's cutout BCBG dress.  The color and the fit are just stunning.

I guess I'm just loving the mermaid style dress because another one of my favorite dresses was the Rhea Costa dress worn by Sosie Bacon.  The dress accented her figure and although rather simple, the crochet flower detail was the perfect touch.

2013 Beauty Favs

I've made a collage of some of my most reached for beauty products of 2013 and listed them below!  

• Maybeline Fit Me Foundation - A great foundation at a great price ($6-8) that's right in the middle in terms of coverage
• Macadamia Oil Deep Hair Mask - The best hair mask ever!  I use it once a week to rejuvenate my hair.
• Burt's Bees Lip Balm - I have this chapstick in Mango and in Grapefruit.  I love the way they smell and feel on my lips. 
• Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer - This covers up any blemish and the little tube lasts forever!
• Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radience - This primer gives your face just the right amount of glow.
• Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush - This brush gives your face an airbrushed look.  I use it first with the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer and then with the Maybeline Fit Me Foundation.
• Maybeline Dream Bouncy Blush - Just a great cream blush.
• L'occitane Shea Butter Hand Creme - The best cure for those dry winter hands. 
• Real Techniques Stippling Brush - Finally a stippling brush that doesn't shed!  It makes Maybeline Dream Boucy Brush look incredible.
• Essie Nailpolish in Fiji - A creamy pale pink color that looks great on any skin tone.  
• Physicians Formula Glow&Mood Boosting Powder - Just an all over face powder to finish my look.  It also provides a bit of a glow! 

Product Love: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

I am obsessed with the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams.  I was recently in Ulta picking up a few lip products.  I walked past the NYX display and picked up three different lip products to test out.  I grabbed the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo, a deep burgundy red, as I have been super into red lips.  Perhaps because of the holiday season?  When the cashier was ringing up my items she said, referencing the matte lip cream, you're going to love this product because it lasts all day. Boy was she right. I absolutely adore this product because it has such great lasting power and the color is pretty potent, one swipe is all you need. At around $6 a pop, they're totally a steal.  Needless to say, I've already ordered one more matte lip cream to add to my collection in a pinkish coral shade named Antwerp.
